The Angel’s Hands Foundation works to support families of children with rare or undiagnosed diseases, helping them receive benefits that are often not covered by insurance.
doTERRA International donated to the 12th Annual Angel’s Hands Golf Tournament in support of the Angel’s Hands Foundation (AHF), a Utah-based organization that strives to help families who have children with undiagnosed or rare diseases. As one of AHF’s yearly fundraisers, the golf tournament aims to raise money to help with the organization’s mission of improving the quality of life for people living with rare diseases.
Founded in 2001, AHF has helped families in Utah suffering from over 150 varieties of rare diseases, as well as 50 types of undiagnosed conditions. AHF knows that when it comes to rare diseases, insurance often will not cover many of the medical expenses, medical equipment, and other services required to help someone with a rare condition live comfortably. Working to fill the gaps left by insurance, AHF specializes in providing families with medical equipment like wheelchairs, hearing aids, specialty beds, bathtubs, braces, and more.
In addition to providing families with funds to help with specialty medical equipment, AHF also strives to provide parents with support by bringing families together in local support groups, and even helping send parents to national conferences to meet specialists and get information about their child’s rare disease. Taking their support even further, AHF provides parents with emotional support, and even organizes monthly activities and social outings to help families make memories together.
doTERRA was pleased to contribute to an organization that is passionate about helping families as they strive to live normal lives amidst the struggles of dealing with rare diseases. Not only do insurance limitations make things more difficult for these families, but everyday life can seem frustrating, unfair, and difficult—especially without the essentials needed to keep a child comfortable and happy. Each AHF initiative is designed to improve the quality of life of children living with rare or undiagnosed diseases. With donations from companies like doTERRA and community members who care, AHF can continue to provide necessary services to families and children who truly deserve them.
