When infections and viruses as powerful as HIV, AIDS, or hepatitis threaten the lives of children, the Incarnation Children’s Center is equipped to assist them.
After successfully serving as a rescue center for abandoned babies with HIV/AIDS, the Incarnation Children’s Center now nurtures children with AIDS who are too sick to live in their homes but do not qualify for hospitalization. The center functions as a high-quality nursing care facility on the outskirts of New York and takes in individuals from birth to 21 years of age. This exceptional care program has given children the opportunity to mentally and physically heal and is providing them with a chance to live a normal and healthy life.
On April 21, 2016, the Incarnation Children’s Center will be holding their eighth annual Hearts for Hope benefit to raise awareness and funds for those in their care who suffer from intensive HIV infection. This event will include a silent auction featuring donations from companies and individuals around the country. doTERRA was pleased to contribute to the Hearts for Hope event by donating a gift basket for their silent auction. All of the proceeds made from the Hearts for Hope auction and fundraiser will go directly toward providing the extensive care needed for the young individuals at the center.
Because AIDS is a life-altering disease, specialized care is a must to help improve the health status of those with AIDS. Since the first instance of reported AIDS in 1981, millions of people without proper treatment have lost their lives to it. AIDS is caused by an HIV infection, which weakens the immune system making it more susceptible to other viruses and infections such as hepatitis. Viral hepatitis is specifically a risk factor for young individuals with HIV because it can be obtained more easily with a deficient immune system.1 However, through proper care and precaution, hepatitis and other viruses and infections can be avoided for those with AIDS.
The Incarnation Children’s Center has dedicated all of their resources to providing this quality care to the children in the center. The organization allows for children who are AIDS positive to live inside the home-like setting of their care center. While the children are living there, the center attends to their needs by identifying their specific conditions, tending to their psychosocial and mental health needs, and assisting them through the center’s licensed medical and nursing care.
The Hearts for Hope event and donations like doTERRA’s help the Incarnation Children’s Center to continue improving the health of children with AIDS and are allowing children to have a chance at a happier and healthier life.
