In an effort to prevent obesity and subsequently diabetes, high blood sugar levels, and other negative effects of unhealthy eating, Processed-Free America is empowering and encouraging others by educating them on the harmful effects of processed foods.
doTERRA Wellness Advocate Lavonia Nowell is giving back to her community by helping others fight against unhealthy living. A couple years ago, Lavonia’s health hit an all-time low, causing her to retire from her job and live with the physical discomforts that her poor health produced. That is, until she came across Dee McCaffrey’s The Science of Skinny, a book focusing on the power of eating unprocessed foods. With the book’s principles in mind, Lavonia was able to transition to a processed-free diet, and within four months, she was living a healthy and happy lifestyle.
Lavonia decided to share what she learned by becoming a Certified Processed-Free Facilitator through the Processed-Free America organization, an organization that was co-founded by Dee McCaffrey. Lavonia began leading four of Dee McCaffrey’s Processed-Free Living support groups along with two other doTERRA Wellness Advocates, Kay Phillips and Dr. Lonny McKenzie. Together, they work to educate their communities on processed-free foods and strive to eliminate childhood and adult obesity across America.
Their aim to eliminate childhood and adult obesity is extremely important, especially in a nation that has high obesity rates. Obesity can be a serious health issue and can be life-threatening. One of the most common side effects of obesity is Type 2 Diabetes. Diabetes occurs when the body cannot produce enough insulin to control the body’s blood sugar level. Because of this problem and similar malfunctions, diabetes “is the leading cause of early death, CHD, stroke, kidney disease, and blindness.”1 Aside from diabetes, those struggling with obesity are at a higher risk of heart disease, asthma, and cancer.2
The Processed-Free America organization is helping fight this obesity battle by providing opportunities for people to receive health education and tips on naturally overcoming and preventing obesity. They accomplish this through health classes, weekly educational podcasts, and counseling. The foundation of their program is to help people see the benefits of whole foods and the harmful effects of processed foods. They believe that living a life free of processed foods is key to losing weight, keeping it off, and retaining a healthy and positive lifestyle.
Volunteers like Lavonia Nowell are dedicated to seeing Processed-Free America reduce the rising obesity rates and are helping members of their community experience happy and health-filled lives. To find out more about the organization or how to donate, visit the Processed-Free America website.
